What you need to do is find the middle ground, the gray area in between the two above mentioned extremes.
Going to an extreme with anything is never a good thing. For instance, starving yourself is definitely not the answer to losing weight, but you DO have to maintain a low calorie/low fat diet. That would be the gray area in that situation.
Remember, sometimes it's the old tried and true, tested methods that REALLY work and not the newest fad diet that makes a million dollars but no one loses weight!
